EVIL HAS NO POWER!

EVIL HAS NO POWER!

EVIL HAS NO POWER!

On the day of the 25 August 2019 visit to Fivizzano, the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella and his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier had said to make the sites of Nazi-fascist massacres accessible to German students. Hence the project "Memorial Day, Evil has no Power" for a multimedia communication with Germany involving German schools, public opinion and the Germanic School of Genoa. And last Friday, the students from Genoa arrived in Fivizzano, welcomed by the mayor, then went to San Terenzo Monti to the sites of the massacre (to learn more, click here). The headmaster Hubert Muller and two teachers accompanied them. The young people visited the Museum of Memory and the visit coincided with the start of the project "Evil has no power" by Clemens Maria Haas (composer) and Claudia Mielke (director) who will combine interviews, music, debates and films to take to Italian and German schools.

Clemens Maria Haas, the composer of both the text and the music of the piece, says: "In the beginning was the melody.... It was as if the landscape itself was telling me a song. The land of Lunigiana, which has seen so much. So I began to write the sounds and the composition of the song IL MALE NON HA POTERE was born. The song that should remember the victims of 1944. A commemorative song, but mainly intended to give hope and courage for the future’.

Here are the lyrics of the song.

"Evil has no power!"

Evil has no power
white shirts
dance in the wind
peace fades
how many dead

our blood
in the earth
revives
new life
this earth
nourishes the trees
with love
we are strong
is the desire
to start again
that hides
the wounds
evil - has no power
has no home - in the heart
love - and hope
pain - no more
the guilty - lost in the void
without names - forgotten

Composition: Clemens Maria Haas
Text: Clemens Maria Haas
thanks to: Sara Lucchinelli + Claudia Mielke

Evil has no power!

"In the beginning was the melody.... It felt like the landscape itself was telling me a song. The earth of the Lunigiana, which has seen so much. So I began to write down the sounds and the composition for the song IL MALE NON HA POTERE was born.
