World Cosmopolitan Music

Music is a production of human creativity that is perceived through the sense of hearing. While the figurative arts are based on the dimension of space, music is based on the dimension of time. Of course, it also occupies a space, for example the filling of a small or large part of a space by music played at low or high volume, but this spatial dimension of music is not essential and can be altered until it is almost completely eliminated (playing a piece of music at zero volume, then only the space occupied by the file remains). The essential dimension of music is therefore time and the secondary dimension, which conditions but does not determine it, is space.

Music as such has a local and national and already a cosmopolitan and global reach. In the future, it will be necessary to also develop sung music in the supranational world language, which cannot be a national language. For this reason, too, it is necessary to pay attention to the catchiness of such a world language.

Music unites people, so that it will be a very important means for creating the world community and the world state. It is important that the industry has as little influence as possible and that commissions of musicians and experts are formed to defend the world musical heritage against the often destructive interference of the economy. Companies operating under capitalism are often only interested in promoting musicians who are successful  in the short term, especially among young people, even if they do not have great musical talent. In a world state, however, care should be taken to ensure that only those musicians are supported who can remain present for a longer period of time.

Local music will be the other aspect that should definitely be considered in a world state. Today we can see how English music tends to displace local music, which is often completely unknown outside the borders of the respective area. However, this would be a misunderstood cosmopolitan approach. Authentic mondialism or cosmopolitanism does not cover local traditions, including musical ones, but rather emphasises them and makes them known outside their place of origin. World television and world radio will also have the task of highlighting and promoting national and regional musical traditions and broadcasting them worldwide. In this way, both world music in the world language and local music traditions in the local languages will be equally known throughout the world.
